Cast Bios

Kathleen Belarde (Dancer) is a proud native of Colorado where she began her dance training at the age of three. She was classically trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, acro, and contortion. Kathleen trained with professionals from the Colorado Ballet Company and received a scholarship to attend their summer program where she was offered a spot in their pre-professional training program. Prior to Pace Kathleen has performed as the Leading Player in Pippin, the Angel in Easy Heaven, and has danced in many ballet productions such as Sleeping Beauty. Kathleen is currently studying for a BFA in Commercial Dance from Pace University where she gets to work with important figures in the industry. At Pace University Kathleen has performed in Dance Out Loud, DancesPace, Emergence, and the Commercial Dance Fall Intensive. Kathleen is very excited for the opportunity to work with the BFA acting program in this amazing production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Gabriel Burke (Philostrate) is an actor, singer and poser originally from Sydney Australia, currently studying his BFA in Acting at Pace University. Having moved a year and a half ago to NYC he earned his first American Theatre credit as a principal role in Brian Adams Crowds Out Front workshopped at Manhattan Theatre Club (2018). Gabriel’s Australian credits include Two Peas Theatre Company’s Marat/Sade (2017), Fear&Misery (2015), Belvoir Theatre Company’s The Events (2016), Rockdale Musical Society’s Little Shop Of Horrors (2018); Gabriel will also be originating a lead role in a to-be-released audiobook musical Lavender Lane. “I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to express myself in this vibrant production that celebrates all that is bold, passionate and full of life!”  

 

Joneisha “JoJo” Carmichael (Dancer) is a native of Dothan, AL, and has been a committed dancer for the past 16 years. She is now a sophomore in the Pace Performing Arts commercial dance program. The diversity that she is receiving in her school training is helping her improve leaps and bounds within her technique and performance quality. JoJo has worked with choreographers such as Karla Garcia, Bo Parks, and Josh Bergasse so far, during her time at Pace. She has also attended the Radio City Rockettes summer intensive. 

 

Kate Clay (Hermia) is delighted to be a part of this wonderfully feminist rendition of Midsummer! She is a current sophomore in Pace's BFA Acting program, and would like to thank Grant, the management, and the designer teams for all of their hard work in bringing The Wood to life. She sends all her love to M&M and Doodle!

Victor Colasurdo (Egeus) is a BFA Acting Sophomore at Pace University’s School of Performing Arts and is so excited to be a part of such a fun and freeing show for his first show at Pace! He is grateful to have been able to learn from this experience and to continue to progress into the performer he strives to be. He thanks the faculty at Pace, his family, and everyone involved in the production for their love, support, and wild energy!

Gavin Cranmer (Snug/Lion) is a senior in the BA Acting IPE program at Pace. He is currently developing “Swamplandia!” with his ensemble WIPE! He has recently been seen in productions all around NYC as well as internationally in the Young Theatre Festival in Bale, Croatia. He is super thrilled to be a part of this wonderful production and wants to thank the incredible cast and crew for making this a wonderful experience. And as always a huge thank you to my friends and family for always being a huge source of encouragement and inspiration. (Also thank you Mom and Dad for paying rent these past two months)

Jackie Derilo (Fairy/Dance Ensemble) is a sophomore BFA actor and this will be her first PPA mainstage! She is so excited and thankful to the Midsummer team for letting her be a part of this production as well as explore her love for dance!

​

Hollis Dohr (Puck) is a junior in the BFA Acting program at Pace University. Select theater credits include Pace’s Dark of the Moon (Schimmel Center); Measure for Measure (The Untitled Shakespeare Project); Romeo and Juliet (Powerhouse Theater Training Company at Vassar College); Les Misérables (Interlochen Center for the Arts); The Living Dead in Denmark (Cherubs Theater Arts Institute at Northwestern University); The Mystery of Edwin Drood (The Archer School for Girls). National tour: Ensemble in The Merry Wives of Windsor (Shakespeare’s Globe). She has also appeared in Windows Wide, a new work presented at The Blank Theater’s Young Playwrights Festival 2018 (Stella Adler Theater—Los Angeles), as Ensemble in Opera Paralléle’s Dead Man Walking (The Broad Stage), in the premiere of Esther Arms, a one-act by Bekah Brunstetter presented at The Young Actor’s Studio: LA, and onstage at The Mark Taper Forum as a Regional Finalist in The National August Wilson Monologue Competition. Alumna: National YoungArts Foundation: Merit Winner in Musical Theater; Spotlight Awards at The Music Center: Finalist in Acting. She would like to send love to her family and thank the entire cast and creative team!

Henry Flego (Quince/Prologue) is a BFA acting senior and is proud to be a part of the Midsummer production. He is graduating this spring and is happy to end his four years of education and training with this show. This is Henry’s second main stage production at Pace University, and he is ecstatic to take on the role of Quince. For Henry, the show is a true experience of captivating spectacle and sure to take any audience on an entertaining journey. He thanks, Grant, Lindsay, Jelani, Mark, and the extremely hard-working production team that have made A Midsummer Night’s Dream a reality. He is also gracious for his loving parents Shannon and Glenn and his family that have continuously supported him throughout his artistic career.

Ashley Gance (Dancer) is a sophomore BFA Commercial Dancer and is honored to be performing along side the exceptional cast and crew of “Welcome to the Wood”. Regional: Anything Goes (Reno), Cinderella (Dance Captain), 42nd Street (Peggy Sawyer). She has toured the country with Artists Simply Human Dance Convention as an Advanced Assistant and Rafael Grigorian Ballet Company as a soloist. She has revived full scholarship to Joffrey Ballet School as a trainee. She would like to thank her Pace teachers, especially Rhonda, Lauren, Scott, Jess and Grant. She would additionally like to thank her ever supportive family. @ashleygance

Ties Jansen (Flute/Thisbe) is a third-year BFA Acting student at Pace Performing Arts. This is his PPA Mainstage debut. NYC theatre: I Do Believe In Fairies, Measure for Measure, This Is Our Youth. Select other theatre: Macbeth, West Side Story, 3 Winters, Les Misérables, Romeo & Juliet. Select film: All's Well That Ends Well, What Is Love?, Internal Affairs. Ties would like to dedicate this performance to the SRSC, whose 2013 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream first inspired him to perform Shakespeare's works.

Dylan Kevitch (Dancer) Past credits in Pace:“Dance Space” 2016 and 2018, “Dance Out Loud” 2017. Outside credits: Trained at “Jacobs Pillow contemporary summer program 2018”. Trained in the styles, ballet, gaga, contemporary, modern, and hiphop. He couldn’t be more excited to be working on this show with the acting majors!He has always been a fan of Madonna, and he is thrilled to be dancing to her music! The combination of dance and acting is such a cool idea, and he can’t wait for everyone to see this masterpiece!

Jacob Lill (Dancer) is a current junior in the BFA Commercial Dance program. Being a dancer for the last 16 years, heavily involved in theater throughout high school, and an aspiring broadway performer he is thrilled to be a part of this production! His credits include dancesPace, Dance Out Loud, and Emergence (Pace University). Irving Berlin’s: Holiday Inn, Flashdance: The Musical, Mamma Mia, and Matilda (Surflight Theater). Special thanks to Jess and Grant for involving him in this project!

Matt Lipschitz (Dancer) is from Rochester, New York and is incredibly grateful to be a part of this production, and get to work alongside such a talented cast and crew (on and off stage). He has been a competitive dancer in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop for 13 years. Matt is a BFA Commercial Dance major at Pace, as well as an actor, singer, songwriter, and a cappella group member.  At Pace University, Matt has performed in Dance Out Loud, Emergence, DanceSpace, and the Commercial Dance Fall Intensive. He aspires to be a musical theater performer, recording artist, songwriter/producer, and maybe astronaut. Original music on Spotify and Apple Music! 

 

Jazlyn Lewis (Hippolyta/Titania) This is Jazlyn’s debut performance in a Pace University School of Performing Arts (PPA) production. She is a transfer student from Fullerton College in California where she graduated with an Associates Degree in Theatre Arts. Now, she is a senior in the BFA Acting program and is having the time of her life on this production. She hopes you all enjoy the show! Special thanks to my Mercy and Jackie Lewis, my NY tribe, and the Midsummer cast and crew. Shoutout to Grant and Jess! 

 

Katelin MacDonald (Dancer Understudy) was raised in Edmond, Oklahoma and grew up at Kim Massay Dance where she trained for 15 years. She is now currently a sophomore at Pace University getting a degree in BFA Commercial Dance.

Maia Macpherson (Helena) is a junior BFA Acting student from Vancouver Island, Canada. She is so honoured to work on such an incredibly exciting and beautiful production that highlights the strength and beauty of women. Maia is so thankful to her wonderful family and friends for helping her get to this point in her career. She is unbelievably grateful to get the opportunity work with Grant, Jess and our hardworking stage management team.

Atrevis McCullough (Bottom/Pyramus) is a Junior in the BFA Acting program at Pace University. Past Pace credits include Dark of the Moon, and now A Midsummer Nights Dream! Atrevis is so excited to be apart of such an amazing production with an incredible cast. Atrevis would like to thank his family and friends for constantly supporting him.

Molli Anne Ng (Dancer) is pursuing her BFA in Commercial Dance from Pace University as well as a minor in Peace & Justice(Class of 2022). She trains in most styles of dance and hopes to work in concert, commercial, and theatre work after graduation. 

​

Elhajj Outland (Theseus/Oberon) is a senior in the Pace Performing Arts BFA Acting Program. This is his third show; recent productions he’s been involved in is An Octoroon, and Imagine Sisyphus Happy. Elhajj is honored to be part of an outstanding, and hardworking cast, as well as thrilled to share his performance on the schimmel Stage with some of his best friends.

Zander Pacella (Demetrius) is a senior BFA Acting major. He was most recently seen on the newest season of Reelz Channel's Copycat Killers portraying the infamous serial killer Jeffery Dahmer. Other Notable television credits include recurring appearances on Saturday Night Live. He was last seen on the Pace University stage as Mr. Allen in the 2019 production of Dark of The Moon and Drakis in the 2017 production of Lysistrata, He is grateful for the brilliant education provided by the BFA faculty, and he appreciates the opportunities Pace has given him.

William Robinson (Dancer) is a Nashville native and has been performing since the age of three. He began his dance training at the age of two and has studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and gymnastics. William has trained with professionals from the Nashville Ballet as well as the Atlanta Ballet. William is a current junior at Pace and is a candidate for a BFA in Commercial Dance and is getting training in both the concert and commercial world of dance. During his time at Pace he has performed in DancesPace, Dance Out Loud, Emergence, and the Commercial Dance Fall Intensive. William has also performed in a number of musicals and plays prior to his time at Pace. Some of his favorite roles include; Race (Newsies), Seymour (Little Shop of Horrors), and Travis Younger (A Raisin in the Sun). William is very excited to work on this project with other commercial dancers and also the BFA Acting students. We hope you enjoy your time in the Wood!

TX Tario (Lysander) is once again taking the Schimmel Center stage, last seen in Dark of the Moon (Conjur Woman & Burt). A BFA Acting Senior (c/o 2020), TX’s 2019 has consisted of 2 new musical readings, Hawaiian Goddess (feat. Singer) on Princess Cruise Line and Murder Pass (Spencer) at The Tank NYC, and one commercial over the summer. Having performed alongside Stephen Schwartz, Jan Maxwell, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Lucie Arnaz and Richard Chamberlin, to name a few, and culminated credits not only on the stage, but last seen in TV Investigation Discovery’s A Crime to Remember series (David Takai), TX is beyond excited to share the stage with a talented cast of performers, under the direction of Grant Kretchik and choreographed by Jess Hendricks. Mahalo nui loa (Thank you very much) to the ENTIRE Midsummer cast and crew, NYC friends and to my ohana (family)  back home in Honolulu, Hawaii. Keshet Wachtel (Starveling/Moonshine/Dancer) Previous credits include: (Shows) The House of Bernarda Alba Martino T. Schreiber Studio, The Great Wizard (Israel)  (actress and dancer), Education: E. Ben Yehuda Dance school Studio, Tel Aviv Art School Ironi Alef – Dance Major. Acting Studio Nissan Nativ one year conservatory- Israel. Chubaq Technique course. Served and performed in the Israeli Air Force as a professional dancer. KCDC – Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, a dancer in the Second Company. One Year Conservatory T. Schreiber Studio. Creative Team Bios

Grant Kretchik (Director) is the Associate Director of the School or Performing Arts at Pace University and is head of the BFA Acting Program. Grant has appeared off-Broadway as well as minor parts in Film and TV projects. His projects have premiered in festivals around the world, including Cannes, Austin, Mumbai, Santa Fe, Boston, Honolulu, Japan and London. His latest project, America which he executive produced, has been seen at Rosebud, Julien Daubuque, The Women’s International Film Festival, Festival of the Moving Image. Grant assisted director Michael Grieg on the first national tour of Next to Normal. Other directing credits include: The Parade at the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival; Scottish Sperm at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Zoofest (Just for Laughs) in Montreal. Grant has worked as both an actor and director at La MaMa Experimental Theater Club. He a proud member of Actors Equity and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.  Grant is a contributing expert for Backstage magazine and is a contributing author to the book publications,  acting for the Screen  and The Ultimate Musical Theater College Audition Guide: Advice from the People Who Make the Decisions. In 2019, Grant was recognized in Washington, DC as a recipient of a prestigious Jefferson Award in public service for his effort in championing community and wildlife co- existence in East Africa.

Jess Hendricks (Choreographer) graduated from the University of Colorado with a BFA in Dance. Her training consists of summers at Perry Mansfield School of the Performing Arts, American Dance Festival, Harvard Dance Festival, EDGE Scholarship, Gus Giordano and Hubbard Dance Street.  Her credits include commercials and industrials for Godiva, Loreal, Reebok, Toys R Us, Universal Studios, Volkswagon and Warner Brothers. Jess has worked on the European tours of Hair, Grease and Jesus Christ Superstar as Dance Captain, performed for the opening premiers of Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby and can be seen in such movies as Living Out Loud and Between The Sheets.  She has performed and assisted for the Elan Awards, Bob Fosse Awards, Ms. America Pageant, Carnival, Dance Break and Broadway Bares. Jess has choreographed the New York musicals “The Shaggs”, “The Book Of The Dun Cow” and “Dead City” as well as the movie musical “Free Fall” and the music video “Just A Dress” for the Berlin Film Festival. Jess choreographed European artist Sofia Strati’s music video “This Can’t Be Love” in New York for Eurovision.  Jess has taught at Universities and Festivals throughout Canada, Costa Rica, Cyprus, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Norway and the United States. She has danced with “The Wes Veldink Movement”, Co-Created her own company “Two Peas & A Pod” and has created work for A Great Big World and Alicia Keys. She has set work for Dance Lab New York, METDance, Wanderlust, Point Park University, Marymount Manhattan College and PACE University. Jess is currently an Adjunct Professor at PACE University in New York City,  on faculty with 24 Seven Dance Convention and a Co-Founder of Dancers Give Back Dallas.

Jelani Corbie (Assistant Director) was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to New York City to pursue the arts. This is the first mainstage production at Pace University that he is a part of. Some of his major past credits include being the Arranger, Orchestrator, and Music Supervisor of "Gifts of Blue and Gold XI", Director of "The Fatima College Senior Choir Honours" and Assistant Director of "Gifts of Blue and Gold 9". He would like to thank Grant Kretchik (Director of Welcome to the Wood: A Midsummer Night's Dream) for the opportunity to work with him. He has been such a phenomenal mentor and has been such a source of inspiration. He would like to make special mention of his Fatima College family who has shaped him into the person that he is today: Kwasi Noel (his mentor for as long as he can remember), Dante Gains (his best friend/brother/icon), and all the others that he has worked with throughout the years. Finally, he would like to make mention and give thanks to his immediate family, especially his mother, Natasha Corbie, who passed away in November 2018, whom he continually seeks to make proud. I love you, mummy. Rest in Peace.

Cleo Sykes (Assistant Choreographer) is an alum of Pace University, and holds a B.F.A. in Commercial Dance with concentrations in choreography and pedagogy. Pace credits include original works by renowned teachers and choreographers such as Mandy Moore, Jessica Hendricks, Lauren Gaul, Rhonda Miller, and Jason Samuels Smith, as well as excerpts from Agnes de Mille's Rodeo, and José Limón's Psalm. As a participant in the inaugural Pace Performing Arts Los Angeles Intensive, Cleo studied dance and choreography for the camera, working closely with Emmy-nominated choreographer Mandy Moore and renowned choreographer & videographer Jerry Evans. Performance credits include the 2015 and 2017 Park Avenue Armory Gala (Larry Keigwin), A Letter to Cancer (Rachel M. Hettinger, Metaphors&similes Dance), My Love (Mike Esperanza, Peridance Capezio Center 2017 Gala), The Attraction of the Pedaling Ankle (Jaclyn Walsh, Pushing Progress Showcase 2016), Brianna Mercado's + Dance Collective, and In Violent Circles (Rite of Spring) (Jonathan Riedel, world premiere). She can also be seen in the short dance film Had She Never Asked Me, directed by Charissa Barton, Cindy Salgado and Devin Jamieson. Thanks to Jess Hendricks for bringing me back to Pace for such an exciting collaboration of dance and theater, to the cast and crew for a warm and enthusiastic welcome, and to my family and friends who have always supported this journey.

Mark Myles Murray (Movement, Fight, and Intimacy Consultant) is a Brooklyn based creator, performer, and movement director. He has toured his one man show, CODA (Children of Deaf Adults), around the country where he received the Chicago Fringe 'Pass-Holder's Pick' Award. He is a 2019 Sokoloff Arts creative fellow and a recipient of a 2019 Forge Red Barn Residency. His current work is focused on how we cultivate ensemble in and outside of the rehearsal room and storytelling without the use of the spoken word. When he isn't working in theatre, Mark enjoys a good tabletop game, a good whiskey, and a good dad joke. Brett Martinez (Set Designer) is a fourth-year set designer, having previously studied American Sign Language interpretation. He is originally from Los Angeles via Denver and currently resides in Astoria. Brett designed last season’s musical Memphis for Pace University. Elijah Sullivan (Lighting Designer) is a New York City based fourth year designer at Pace School of Performing Arts. He is a multidisciplinary designer with experience in lighting design, sound design, projection design and production design. He is thrilled to have been a part of such a unique take on this entertaining classic for his last show at Pace. Past credits include Lighting Design: Dance Out Loud 2019, Pete(Her) Pan, Animal Farm, Bloom, Safer Than Home, Dance Out Loud 2018, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. Sound Design: Peter and The Starcatcher, City of Angels, Much Ado About Nothing, Nice Jewish X. Projection Design: Les Miérables. Production Design: The Meditater, Gap Year, Green Shoes.

Julia Riley (Sound Designer)  is a junior at Pace, studying sound design in the production design program. Other shows she has designed include both Boeing Boeing and Machinal at Pace University, as well as shows for Stella Adler Acting Studio. She has also been an A1/Mixer on numerous shows including Sunday in the Park with George here at Pace. She loved being able to work on this fantastic show and would love to thank the entire cast and creative team for being so amazing. Special thanks to Jimmy and Andy for joining team sound! And an extra special thank you to her family and friends who encourage and support her throughout all her shows and adventures!

Emily Huber (Company Manager) is thrilled to be working on this incredible show! Previous credits include: Stage Management internship with the Muny for their 101st season, Machinal (2nd ASM), Emergence (PSM), and many more. Love to her family and the TCA.

Lindsay Jones (Production Stage Manager) is Stage Managing her third Pace Mainstage with Welcome to the Wood, and is so thrilled to be working alongside Grant, Jess, and an immensely talented group of creatives. Favorite credits include Off Broadway: A Fiddler on the Roof (Stage Manager, Stage 42.) Is Anyone Alive Out There? (Production Assistant, Audible Original at Minetta Lane.) and A Fidler Afn Dahk (Assistant Stage Manager, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene.) New York: The Comedian’s Tragedy (Production Stage Manager, Showcase) and PETE(her)PAN (Assistant Stage Manager, 29 Hr Reading.) Lindsay is a proud union member of Actor’s Equity, and would like to encourage everyone to vote in all state, local, and national elections. Love to J. Ashton Pickering (1st Assistant Stage Manager) is a Junior Stage Management Major, originally from Alpharetta, Georgia. Special thanks to the incredible SM team, Cast, and Artistic team. Sloane Fischer (2nd Assistant Stage Manager) is a Sophomore in the Stage Management program at PACE University. This is her second mainstage show, previously having worked on the Senior film #2, I against I, dance showcase, Emergence, and the play, Machinal. She is so excited for you all to see this amazing work of art, and so thankful to have been given this opportunity to be a part of such a great show and incredible, talented team! She hopes you get into the groove of this classic Shakespeare play intertwined with music from Madonna! And as Madonna said herself, “Never forget to dream!” Enjoy!

Makenna Remenaric (2nd Assistant Stage Manager) is a Senior B.A. Stage Management major. She is thrilled to be working with this insanely talented group of people, especially her fellow stage management team (Thanks for all the laughs and dance parties!). Rey Hill (Production Assistant) PPA Debut! Rey is a first-year BA Stage Manager from Boston, Massachusetts. Recent credits: Matilda (Assistant Production Manager), By the Water (Stage Manager), The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 (Stage Manager), Spamalot (Props Design). They’d like to thank the SM team for being such great mentors and friends!

Samuel L. Perman (Production Assistant) is making his PPA debut! Samuel has previously directed and acted in various productions at Grace Church School as well as a Principal Ensemble Member of TADA! Youth Theater. He would like to thank his fellow production team as well as his parents, Nina Trevens, Sabrina Washburn, and Ben Tostado for their mentorship and guidance throughout the years.
